Vestment worn during the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Brasil

This chasuble was worn by Pope Benedict XVI, during his visit to Brasil in May 2007. We have had the honour to co-design this vestment. The design based on gold and silver threads reflect the powerfull meaning of the gold and silver key in the Vatican flag. The keys are gold and silver to represent the power of loosing and binding. The gold key alludes to the power in the kingdom of the heavens and the silver key indicates the spiritual authority of the papacy on earth. Jeroen Kerre created this horizontal design that reflects the eternal power in the kingdom of heavens and its earthly authority through the sacrifice of the risen Christ.
